It’s well known that the 18th century novelist Jane Austen once lived in and wrote about Bath. Charles Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers dedicates several captures around the social life of Bath. Even Anna Sewell’s Black Beauty and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein are said to be influenced by the city. Perhaps we’re biased but Bath is truly one of the most beautiful cities, and it’s even more magical in the lead-up to Christmas.     1. Bath Christmas Market
    The Bath Christmas Market is always on the top of our list. The market will feature over 200 stallholders, charities, and community groups, and will attract a predicted half a million people and it remains on the most popular Christmas Markets in the UK. Bath City Centre will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland from Thursday 23 November to Sunday 10 December, for this free event. The city welcomes artisan independents, live festive entertainment, and some winter warming food. Bathe in the sights and smells of Christmas, whilst being entertained by community choirs and ticking everything off your shopping list. The market nestled amongst Bath's iconic architecture surrounding the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and the Thermae Spa, to name a few.

    2. Bath on Ice at Royal Victoria Park
    Bath on Ice is back for its 11th year from Friday 17 November to Wednesday 3 January and be prepared to be transported to a dreamy Winter Wonderland. Glowing in atmospheric lights, set in the most beautiful expanse of green parkland spanning 57 acres, Royal Victoria Park. Just a short stroll from the city centre you’ll find a rink glowing in atmospheric lights. Expect wintery music, a cosy bar, seasonal drinks and festive food within the large, heated undercover ‘Moguls Alpine Bar’. You will be sure to find some festive euphoria on the surface of genuine ice.


    3. Bath Christmas Light Trail
    Some of Bath’s most iconic streets and buildings will be brought to life with magical illuminations, this Christmas. Bath & North East Somerset Council, the Bath BID and Milsom Place have invested in spectacular monument lighting in some of Bath’s iconic streets. The installations have been designed and produced by Fineline Lighting. The illuminations will begin with Bath Lights the Night on 15 November and walk through the city heading towards the Abbey!     4. Father Christmas Grotto at Milsom Place
    Create your own festive memories and watch as your children’s faces light up as they meet Father Christmas and his elves in their workshop and receive a gift. Much more than your usual Grotto, Father Christmas’ Grotto is a fun interactive experience with professional actors, just off Milsom Street in the Centre of Bath. A festive destination designed for the family to enjoy and escape from the hustle and bustle of the Bath Christmas Markets. The Father Christmas’ Grotto is at Milsom Place every weekend from 23 November – 24 December.
